Clara A. Shelton, born on March 31, 1928, in Albany, KY, departed from this world on January 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Clara lived a full life, marked by her profound dedication to her family and her ability to bring people together. Known for her patience, she gracefully raised her daughter and eight sons, and took immense pride in her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Clara's life was richly woven with memorable moments, particularly her renowned Sunday Dinners, where her great fried chicken was a highlight. These gatherings were more than just meals; they were opportunities for family connection, filled with laughter and stories that will echo in the hearts of her loved ones for years to come.
She was educated at York Chapel Elementary in Narvel, Kentucky, and spent many joyful afternoons at Coney Island, reveling in the vibrant festivals that brought the community together. Clara's warm personality and nurturing nature made her a beloved figure among friends and relatives alike.
She is survived by her children, John (Jeannie) Shelton, Lee Shelton, Mitchell (Debbie) Shelton, Danny Shelton, and Bill Shelton. Clara was the proud grandmother of Alicia, Rae Jean, Josetta (David), Angie (Nick), Wesley (Ami), Shavonna, Amanda, Chasity (Andy), Russell (Brooke), Robin, Chris, Michael, Mindy (Shannon), Matthew, Bill Jr., Brittany, Sarah, Nathaniel, David, Kimberly, Casey, Allison, Jennifer, and a multitude of great and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her spirit of love and family values.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Shelton, and her children Cecil (Lisa) Shelton, Dale (Paulette Smith) Shelton, Phyllis Shelton, Michael Shelton, her brothers, Edward (Polly), Junior (Nina), Gene (Francis) Shelton. She is also survived by her sisters, Goldie ( the late Avalee) Huddleston and Pauline (the late David) Murphy. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on January 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home Delhi, located at 4619 Delhi Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45238. Clara will be interred at St. Joseph New Cemetery following the service.
Clara A. Shelton will always be remembered for her unwavering love, her patience with her children, and the moments of joy she created. Her family and friends will forever carry her legacy in their hearts.
