Clara Mae Smith, a beacon of unwavering love and faith, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, at the age of 88 in Kingsland, Texas. Born on December 12, 1937, in Colorado City, Texas, Clara's compassionate spirit and joy for life were evident from her early years. She was a proud graduate of Colorado City High School's class of 1956, reflecting her dedication to education and personal growth.

The beloved wife of Darrell Smith for 69 years, Clara's commitment to her family stood as a testament to her loving and steadfast nature. She was the cherished mother of Cindy Reed, Craig Smith and wife Jane, Kevin Smith and wife Cindy, and Suzie Doland. Her legacy extended to her adored ten grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Clara's sisters, Linda Dosher and Donna Chancellor, remain to honor her memory, along with her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She joins in heaven her parents, Garland and Lola Whitley, her sister Rusty Ludewell, and two cherished angels, great-grandson Gunner Smith and great-granddaughter Hunter Smith.

Clara's professional journey in the oil and gas industry spanned various capacities, always marked by her hard work and integrity. However, her true vocation was found in the roles of mother and grandmother, enriched by her loving guidance and passionate involvement in their lives.

As a devoted Christian, Clara generously contributed her time and spirit to her church community. Teaching Sunday school was a joy for her, and she was ever-present for her church family. An enthusiast for the great outdoors, she relished every opportunity to explore the world, be it camping beneath the stars or embarking on a grand cruise. Clara also possessed a creative flair for crafting, which was only one of the many ways she expressed her unwavering zest for life.

Clara Mae Smith will be remembered for being the epitome of a loving, faith-filled, and passionate soul. Her life is a beautiful patchwork of dedication, service, laughter, and endless love - a quilt of memories that will wrap her family and friends in comfort as they reminisce about the joy she brought into their lives. Her unwavering light will continue to radiate in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her, guiding them with the same grace she embodied throughout her remarkable life.
