Clara M. Sprenkle passed away surrounded by family and friends at Bertrand Nursing Home, Bertrand, NE, and joined her husband in heaven on March 4, 2025, at the age of 77.
Clara was born on February 15, 1948, to parents William “Bill” E. and Lela M. (Smith) Davisson in Burlington, CO. Clara grew up on a farm where she enjoyed being around the chickens, cows, and horses.
Clara married the love of her life, Paul Eugene Sprenkle in Goodland, KS on January 14, 1973. They made their home in McCook, NE. They were together for 49 years until Paul’s passing in 2022.
Clara was a homemaker where she enjoyed raising her children and taking care of household duties. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking in her free time. She would take any opportunity to babysit her grandchildren and help the elderly. Clara was an expert bargainer at garage sales, and she was obsessed with soft blankets and Johnny Cash.
Clara is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Sprenkle; sister, Wilma Davisson; brothers, George Davisson and Leland Davisson; and great-grandchild, Phoenix Edward.
Those left to celebrate her life and will miss her dearly are her sons; Jeff (Megan) Sprenkle of Michigan, Denzel Payton of McCook, NE; daughter, Tammy Jo (George) Schleeman of Elwood, NE; sister, Joann (John) Hinger of Goodland, KS; six grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Pearson of Cozad, NE, Crystal (Nick) Byrns of Elwood, Dusty Gautier of Elwood, NE, Sonya Capps of Cozad and Mason and Madison Sprenkle of MI; 4 step-grandchildren, Junior, Riley, Brantley, and Jase; 7 great-grandchildren, Nick Jr. (Bubba), Kailee, Cherrie, Wyatt, Molly, McKenzie and Octavia; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be donated to Clara’s name to defer funeral expenses, c/o Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, PO Box 476, McCook, NE 69001.
There will be a graveside service at 3pm on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Calvary Cemetery in McCook, NE, with Chaplin Lonna Grabenstein of Brookestone Home, Health, and Hospice, officiating.
