Clara Stigall, born on July 19, 1934, in Bamberg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025 in York, Pennsylvania. She was 90 years old.
Clara made York her home for the past 75 years, becoming a cherished presence in the community and within her family. Her life was marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering spiritual devotion that guided her every step. Clara had a heart full of love and a spirit that radiated joy - she would do anything for anyone, at any time. Her laughter was infectious, and she found great happiness in making others smile.
She was deeply devoted to her faith and loved attending church. Gospel music held a special place in her heart, especially the powerful voice of Shirley Caeser, her favorite church singer. Clara's spirituality was not only expressed through worship but also through the way she lived - always giving, always loving.
Family was the center of Clara's world. Her siblings: Roger McMillan, Derby Lewis, David McMillan, Queenie Ritter. She was a proud mother to Mary Sherelle Brown, Ronald "Butch" McMillan, James Scott McMillan, and Veronica "Puddin" Stigall. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Shuntia Williams and Victor Brown; great-grandchildren Jayonna Williams, Damone Drayden, Victor Brown Jr., LeBron Brown, Salya Brown, Victoria Brown, Savir Brown, and many other beloved great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband Charles Stigall; her mother Queen Ester McMillan; and her father Charlie L. McMillan.
Those who knew Clara will remember her as a sweet and beautiful soul whose warmth touched everyone around her. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and light to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be truly missed by all who loved her. May Clara's memory bring peace and comfort to those she leaves behind.
