Claraine Buteyn Obituary
June 4, 1938 - July 6, 2025
Claraine Buteyn, 87, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Waupun, passed on to be with her Savior on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Charleston House in Beaver Dam.
Claraine Buteyn was born June 4, 1938, in Columbia County, the daughter of John and Clara Hoffman Posthuma. Claraine attended East Friesland Christian School and then Randolph High School. On March 9, 1959, she married Ronald Buteyn at East Friesland Christian Reformed Church. Following their marriage the couple resided in Waupun most of their married lives. Claraine and Ron enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends. Claraine delivered Meals on Wheels for the Waupun Senior Center and also drove van for many years for the Waupun School District. Claraine was a member of First Reformed Church in Waupun.
Claraine is survived by her husband, Ronald Buteyn; children: Colleen (Bill) Miles, Michelle (Brian) Lovell and Jennifer (Nate) Petersen; daughter-in-law, Robin (Mike) Tarter; grandchildren: Jill (Lance) Moede, Thomas A. (Madeline) Buteyn ll, Marcus Lovell, Jared Lovell, Claire Petersen and Kayl Petersen; great-grandchildren, Macey and Max Moede; sister, Sylvia (Clinton) Smith; and several nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. Buteyn; brothers: Eli, Carl, Alvin, Clarence, Jim and Jake Posthuma; and sisters: Agnes Schmidt, Grace Fietz and Jeanette Tjepkema.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Pastor Barry Lang officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 12 to 2 p.m.
