Dr. Clarence Joe DelForge Jr., affectionately known as Clancy, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away in St. Joseph North Hospital on July 18, 2025.
Born in Manhattan, Kansas on January 20, 1938, Clancy dedicated his life to education and community. He pursued his academic journey at Emporia State College and earned an Ed.D. from North Texas State University. His career began as an elementary teacher before he transitioned to higher education, serving as a professor at Pittsburg State in Kansas. He concluded his distinguished career at Western Carolina University as a professor of education and reading, where he also directed an innovative Teacher Core project.
Upon retiring to Florida in 1996, Clancy and his wife became well-known for their shared love of dancing. Clancy, in particular, was celebrated for his straightforward advice, often shared during his time at the gym and swimming pool. Friends and visitors alike valued his insights and benefited from his counseling degree and extensive experience. He was truly a vibrant character within his community.
Clancy is survived by Linda Jones DelForge, his wife of 39 years, who lives in Lutz, FL. Also surviving are his two sons, Clarence Joe DelForge III and Charles Vincent DelForge with his wife, Kimberly, their mother Mildred DelForge and two granddaughters, Kristen Bondy with husband Alex and Cameron DelForge, all of whom reside in North Carolina.
According to his request, no celebration of life will be held at this time.
