Funeral services for Clarence Mathews Eischens, 85, of rural Glencoe were held Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Church of St. Pius X. Father Brian Oestreich officiated at the service. The organist was Marie Eischens. The vocalists were Jim Wendling and Shari Templin. Clarence passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family.

Clarence was born on January 3, 1924 to Valentine “Wally” and Lydia (Manderfeld) Eischens in Clarkfield, MN. He grew up in the Clarkfield and Montevideo area with his brother Laurence and his two sisters, Genevieve and Cecelia.

Clarence and Florence Payne were married on July 14, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Church in Montevideo, MN. They made their first home together in Montevideo and later moved to the Glencoe/Silver Lake area, where they lived most of their married Life. Clarence spent his life as a farmer and carpenter and also owned and operated a Dairy Queen for a time in Zumbrota, MN.

Clarence and Florence were blessed with seven children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and cherished the time spent together with his family. Clarence is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence; their children Connie Caspers (Perry), Steve Eischens (Darlene), Mike Eischens (Pat), Peggy Rannow (Jerry), Dennis Eischens (Lisa), Mary Bruch (Ron), Kathy Heil and his 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Wally & Lydia Eischens; brother Laurence Eischens; sisters Cecelia Eischens and Genevieve Helman.
