Clarence Sickle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Grandview Park Chapel on Aug. 23, 2025.
Clarence "Butch" Eugene Van Sickle passed away Wednesday morning, August 20, 2025 surrounded by family at the age of 87. Butch was born on March 31, 1938 to Melvin and Berniece Van Sickle in Des Moines. He married his wife of 63 years, Gladys on June 2, 1956, and together they raised two daughters.
Butch built a life for his family through his hard work as a trade carpenter. He spent his retirement restoring old cars, fishing, and completing his honey-do list from Gladys. He enjoyed camping and boating in Minnesota in the cabin and on the boat he built. The only other thing he enjoyed more than working with his hands is spending time with his family.
Butch is survived by his daughters, Sherrie Van Sickle and Tammy Van Sickle; grandchildren, Tara (Patrick) Honkomp and Tracy (Chuck) Mash; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ava, Angel and Evelynn; bonus great-grandchildren, Drew, Aidan, Jocey, Teagan and Rylen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; parents, and siblings, Donna Reed, Emory Van Sickle, and Shirley Reha.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Iles Grandview Park Chapel on Thursday August 28, 2025. Funeral Services will follow the visitation and begin at 12:00 pm at the funeral home followed by burial at Avon Cemetery.

Dad you was loved by everyone that knew you and around you! And shared your knowledge of carpentry and many things. So they too could grow as a better person just like you. A Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend to everyone you met!
