Clarice Holtman-Schuetz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Price Funeral Home, Inc. - Maryville on Oct. 20, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Clarice Jean Holtman-Schuetz, 83, of Maryville, Missouri passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, surrounded by her family at Oak Point of Maryville.

Clarice was born on February 24, 1942, to Michael and Gerturde (Eickholt) Eckstein. She was the youngest of 12 siblings who all preceded her in death and who also gave her the best childhood of backyard baseball games and playing in the barn.

She went to a country school until attending junior high and high school at Jefferson and graduating in 1960. She married Ronald E. Holtman on October 7, 1961.

She enjoyed working at the Conception Abbey and Clyde Convent, going to Bible studies, doing the bookwork for Ronnie's masonry business, and raising their 3 wonderful kids until Ron's sad passing on March 13, 1988. She began working in Maryville at the ASCS Office and would eventually move to Maryville after David graduated. Clarice loved helping at church from St. Columba Altar Society to St. Gregory's Ladies Guild and had so much fun with her church friends. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 464.

After retiring, the 3 C's, became part of her every day life - Church, Curves, then Coffee with her girl friend's who always made her smile. During these happy years, after 30 years of being widowed, God sent the sweetest man to love her through her final chapter. Maurice Schuetz and Clarice were married on October 12, 2018, and cared for and loved each other for the next 7 years. Through every part of her life, showing God's love to her family was the most important thing to her. She loved growing up with her brothers, marrying into the fun Holtman family, Sunday dinners at Granny's, having Sunday dinners with her own family, being with Maurice, cheering on their grandchildren, great-grandchildren and giggling every chance she got. Being with family is where she found her joy.

Clarice is survived by her loving husband, Maurice of the home, their children, Ronda (Jeff) Strueby, Randy (Susie) Holtman, David (Amy) Holtman, Julia (Ron) Ludlow and Mark Schuetz; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, the best sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Tammy Rose Holtman and brothers and sisters, Hubert, Ava, Leiva, Eva, Eileen, Louis, Emelia, Leo, Bernie, Bob and Jerry.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 11am Friday, October 24th at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Graveside service 3pm Friday at St. Columba Cemetery in Conception, Missouri. Rosary 6pm Thursday, October 23rd at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8pm. The family suggests memorials to St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church or Right to Life.
