Casar – David Wayne Owens, 66, and Clarice Elaine Owens, 64, passed away January 15, 2023 at their residence.
David was born in Gaston County on January 25, 1956 to the late James Clifford Owens and Leona Keever Owens. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Owens and Larry Bell; and his sister, Faye Columbia. Clarice was born in Gaston County on December 21, 1958 to the late Alvin Kenneth Spirlin and Margaret Jenkins Spirlin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers; David Spirlin, Harvey Spirlin, and Timothy Spirlin.
David was a work-a-holic that enjoyed working on cars, cooking, and spending time doing yard work in his garden. Most of all he loved his family and grandchildren. Clarice enjoyed playing video games, feeding the birds and crocheting. She also collected bells and spoons from every state she and David visited while truck driving. She liked to sing and listen to country music. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
David and Clarice are survived by their sons; Alvin “Kenny” Owens (Melissa) and David “Wayne” Owens; daughter, Kim Howard (Mike); grandchildren; Erica (Jordan), Michael, Madeline, Kenneth, Daniel, Abigayle, Samuel, Bobby, and Savannah; and their great-grandchildren, Emma, Rylan, and Bella; David is survived also by his brothers, Jimmy Owens and Donnie Owens; Clarice is also survived by her sister Wanda Crunkleton.
The family will receive friends at Withers and Whisenant funeral home on Saturday January 21, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Withers and Whisenant Chapel with Pastor Joe Bell officiating.
