Claud Dunn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parrish Funeral Home - Selma on Dec. 16, 2025.
Claud Lee Dunn, III, left this life, Monday, December 15, 2025. He leaves behind his wife, Jackie, and his sons, Nate and Brandon; his parents, Claud and JoAnne Dunn; and his brother, John, and wife Kim, all of Smithfield. He also leaves behind a host of friends and family who will realize a void in their lives because of his absence.

Claud was a staff accountant and worked with his father and brother in the family CPA firm, Dunn and Associates, CPAs, PLLC. He was a member of the Smithfield-Selma Senior High School Class of 1986. He attended Johnston Community College and later graduated from Mount Olive University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting.

Claud was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He was a Christian and a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Smithfield. Claud greatly enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He was an avid reader and would get up early each day to read a good novel and enjoy a cup of coffee or two. Claud and his wife had 12 children in and out of their home over two years when they served as foster parents.

From birth, Claud was burdened with physical handicaps and underwent numerous surgeries and hospitalizations to deal with these problems, but throughout life, he never complained about this. Kids can be less than kind regarding individuals with disabilities, but he never let it get him down.

Claud was a superior individual, kind and loving, filled with compassion for anyone with difficulties and problems. He will be greatly missed.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to First Baptist Church, 202 S. Fourth Street, Smithfield, NC 27577.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Smithfield. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson, North Carolina.
