C.B. Adams Jr., 87, of
Crosby, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was a man who loved the lord and his family. His life was defined by service to his country, his community, and those he held dear.
After graduating high school, C.B. served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1962 as a jet mechanic. It was during his military service that he met Linda, the love of his life. They married and spent 65 beautiful years together, building a family they both cherished deeply.
Following his military service, C.B. worked as a millwright and supervisor in the oil and gas industry with Brown and Root at Shell Oil for over 30 years. He also worked hauling hay, working cattle, doing tractor work, and worked at the paper mill and shipyard. He was always there to help family, friends, and neighbors.
C.B.'s strong and calloused hands were always busy. He found joy in working hard with family, farming, working cattle, gardening, cooking and canning, restoring antique tractors and cars, and traveling. He was also an excellent carpenter and innovator. A man of deep faith, he was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church all his life.
C.B. is preceded in death by his mother and father, Marie Sonnier Adams and C.B. Adams Sr.; his beloved wife of 65 years, Linda Adams; his son Lloyd Adams; his great-grandchildren, Cody Adam and Farrah Quarles; his sisters Lou, Gertrude, Lois, Emma, and Shirley; and his brothers, Wallace and Lynn.
He is survived by his daughter Lola Adams (fiancé Tommy), his grandson Clinton Quarles Jr. (wife Deanna), his granddaughter Amanda Quarles Jacobs (husband Jerel), great-grandchildren Lloyd, Jesse, and Cindy Jacobs; son Larry Smith (wife Linda), grandsons David Smith and Michael Smith (wife Micey), great-grandchildren Kaydence, Nataly, and Klarysa; daughter Lois Denise, grandchildren Eric, Nicholas, Sherry, Ava, and Tiffany; sister Peggy Pate; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.
He will be remembered as a hardworking, loving, compassionate, caring, and fun man who always provided for those he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy endures in the lives he touched, the values he instilled, and the love he shared. We take comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into eternal rest, reunited with those who went before him, and held in God's everlasting peace. As his family lovingly said: He loved and worked hard, but we loved him harder.
