Claude hired me for my first teaching job in 1981. Claude was a strong advocate for teachers providing numerous opportunities for teachers to grow professionally and improve their craft. Under his leadership as the science supervisor for Boise, teachers felt appreciated, respected and valued. At a time when the district was experiencing a financial shortfall, subject area administrators were returned part-time to the classroom. Claude taught next door to me for several years. Those years were among the most memorable periods of my teaching career! Claude was quite the prankster and his sense of humor enjoyed by all! I consider it a privilege to have had Claude as a boss, a mentor and a friend. My sympathy to Claude´s family and friends.

Claude was a friend when I was his colleague at Fairmont, the district, and Boise State. His humor, love of teaching, gentle wit, and sense of curiosity about so many things were endearing qualities. He left this world a better place than he found it.

I have an amazingly clear memory of Mr. Hanson. (As a former student, I would not feel using his first name.) I had Mr. Hanson for 7th and/or 8th grade at East Junior High during the early 60s. I remember him very well, as he was one of my favorite and most memorable teachers after 18 years of formal education. He treated us with respect and assumed that we were capable of doing well. His class was challenging but we learned from him about the scientific method. He was witty, and it was a fun class. I feel privileged to have had him as a teacher. Gail Chaloupka

Claude was such a big help with science. His enthusiasm was contagious. I knew Claude when I was teaching at Mountain View. His daughter, Heidi, was a student there. This was in the early 1970s.

He was my favorite teacher at Capital High School. He had a great soul about him.

I loved that man! He was my homeroom teacher in 8th grade at East Jr. High and was my homeroom teacher again at Borah ('63-64 year). At Borah he often reminded me that I was the 8th grade tetherball champion at East. He also had my older sister in class - she was six year older than I - and she thought he was awesome. He was a wonderful, positive person!

Mr. Hanson was my biology teacher at Borah High in 1963/64. He was one of the good ones...a great teacher.
We reconnected in 2013 at the West Boise YMCA often discussing Borah stories. Thanks for the memories.

Mr. Hanson was the best biology teacher I have ever had when I attended Borah. Rest in peace.
