Claudia Jane (Hartsell) Roberts of Bridgeport, TX, passed away Saturday, August 23 after an illness.
Born August 24, 1944 in Decatur, Texas to Mary Jane and Roy Hartsell, Claudia grew up in Bridgeport, TX, graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1962. She attended the University of North Texas gaining a bachelors degree and eventually a masters degree in education counseling.
In 1966 she married her hometown sweetheart, Tommy Jay Roberts.
Over her career in education, Claudia worked as a teacher, school counselor, and administrator in Fort Worth ISD, Azle ISD, Duncanville ISD, Northwest ISD, and others. She touched the lives of countless students and co-workers.
Known for her kind heart but also a fierce advocate for her students and loved ones. Never one to remain idle, after retiring from 45 years in education she renewed her license and worked in real estate sales. She loved catching up with former students and mentees and following their lives and careers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Jane and Roy Hartsell and her infant daughter Emma Lorain Roberts.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Tommy Roberts, her daughter Leah Robertson, son-in-law Nick Robertson, son Matt Roberts, daughter-in-law Tami Roberts, grandchildren Kirston Potts, Anna Roberts, and Abigail Roberts, great-grandchildren Logan Redstone and Harley Andrews as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, August 27th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Funeral: Thursday, August 28th at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Bridgeport, TX.
