Our beloved Claudia Jan Johnson Wangsgaard, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, grandmother and Friend, slipped peacefully into immortality on the morning of Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from Cardio-renal disease.

She was born to B. Grant and Margaret Rigby Johnson on September 20, 1947. She lived most of her life in Kaysville, Utah, but her husband, Perry Wangsgaard, was a member of the military and they moved several times over the years. They lived in Georgia, Maryland and Germany. She particularly loved Germany and studied hard to learn the language. She took classes at Weber State University after they returned home and became quite fluent in German. She loved everything about Germany and talked often of the friends she made there and the food and the beauty of the countryside.

She graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville in 1965, and then Weber State University in Ogden, receiving a BA in Child and Family Studies and earning an Elementary Education Teaching degree. Later, she also received a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught at Burton Elementary in Kaysville, and Kaysville Elementary, and for 25 years at Windridge Elementary in Kaysville. She loved the children she taught and was so happy to encounter them later when they had become “responsible” adults. Praising them and feeling pure joy in their achievements and successes.

Claudia married Perry Wangsgaard in 1968 and became the mother of two sons, Timothy Clinton and Lucas Benjamin Wangsgaard. She adored her sons and they knew it. Timonthy was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 2016, leaving behind his wife and 6 children. She dearly loved her grandchildren. Lucas works and lives in Kaysville and has been the major caretaker for his mother, especially in the last few years of her illness. He did an amazing job of seeing that she had everything she needed and had the very stressful job of making major decisions for her as she became increasingly ill.

Claudia was a delight and a charm to be around. She was always smiling and happy and the word that seems to best describe her is “guileless.” She always put her family first and was always kind. She charmed any who were in her company for any length of time and was loved by many. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her devoted son Lucas, her loving siblings; sister Rosemary and brother Lowel; 6 grandchildren, her in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Perry, her son Timothy, her parents and brother, B. Glade Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday November 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville 11th Ward Chapel, 500 S. Main Street, Kaysville, Utah.
