Claudine Nimmo

Claudine (Jernigan) Nimmo won her victory in Jesus on October 3, 2024, when, in her passing after a brief illness, her deep and lifelong faith became sight.
She was born on December 18, 1935 in Healdton, Oklahoma, to Claud and Opal (Reed) Jernigan. She grew up with a brother, and two sisters with whom she remained close all of their lives. Claudine married her great love, Darrel D. Nimmo, on February 28, 1953 in Rocky Ford, Colorado, and together, they raised two daughters and two sons.
Most of their lives were spent in La Junta, Colorado, although the couple moved to Wolfforth in late 2022.
Claudine was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word. She created a home for her family, filling her days with the tasks of a mother, yet every meal cooked, load of laundry washed, and knee bandaged was done with love. She relished in her children's' activities and could be found cheering for them in all they did. She traveled to many kids' rodeos and was faithfully in the stands at every event. Claudine was a true helpmate for her husband, Darrel. Together, they worked long hours on the family farm, and she could throw a bale of hay or handle a horse as well as anyone. She was tough as nails, but tender, too, always thinking of others before herself. She was quick with a meal, a helping hand, or a warm hug for those in need. One of the most admirable qualities of her life was her strong sense of commitment- to her husband, her family, her church, and the Lord. She had the kind of deep-rooted determination that is hard to find and an example for us all. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, her joy in her family's passions was evident. Mimi, as she was affectionately known, was often seen at grand and great grandkids' concerts, school programs, and sports events. She was a die-hard Mets fan, thanks to her grandson's place on the team. Mimi was invested in her people; she celebrated every marriage and rejoiced in each new baby born. Though her loved ones will miss her easy laugh and warmth, Mimi's beautiful example of the importance of family and her Christ-like devotion to others will remain in our hearts.
Claudine is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Darrel D. Nimmo of Wolfforth, and her four children; Debby Heatwole and husband Mike of Wolfforth, Dana Turner and husband Andrew of Lubbock, David Nimmo and wife Helen of La Junta, CO, and Ronald Nimmo and wife Patricia of Cheyenne, WY, as well as 14 grandchildren: Caleb (Cindy) Heatwole, Kendra (Clint) Clark, Colby (Jordan) Heatwole, Celeste Turner, Calli (Jordan) Gay, Connar Turner, all of the Lubbock area, Kent (Hui) Heatwole of London, UK, Carly (Travis) Carpenter of Tuscola, TX, Jason (Erica) Nimmo of Elizabeth, CO, Jeni (Damon) Carmin of Scott City, KS, Kayla (Tybre) Kaufman of Pueblo, CO, Bryce (Kiersten) Nimmo of Omaha, NE, Kristen (Chris) Lovas of Cheyenne, WY, and Brandon (Chelsea) Nimmo of Port St. Lucie, FL. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Billy Burr and Jerry Houchin, sister-in-law Jerrie Jernigan, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Claudine was also the proud Mimi of 32 great grandchildren, with 3 more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jake Jernigan and her sisters, Melba Burr and Dorthy Houchin.
