Clawson Raymond Patterson (1942-2025)
Clawson Raymond Patterson, 82, of Sanford, NC passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. Funeral services will be held at. 2pm, Thursday (10/9) at Hunt Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm at the church prior to the funeral, and other times a the family's home. Burial will follow services at Buffalo Cemetery.
He was born November 30, 1942 in Tramway to parents Leonard & Marie Pierce Patterson. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1961. He began his working career at Richmahr’s Truck Stop. He worked in machine shops at Roberts Company (8 years), Black & Decker (16 years), Allis-Chalmers (5years), Siemens Allis (5 years) and Moore’s Machine Shop (2 years). He was owner of Patterson’s Locksmith, retiring after 23 years. He also served in the Army Reserve from 1967-1973 in the 824th Quartermaster Company/82nd Airborne.
He enjoyed camping, flying model airplanes, singing karaoke music for hours at his home or gospel music to residents of area nursing homes and going on mission trips with the NC Baptist on Mission and Meshach Carpenters. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. He enjoyed meeting people and sharing his gift of “gab”. He was a friend of Bill Wilson for 37 years. He was also a member of Hunt Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in other roles.
Clawson was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard & Marie Pierce Patterson; brother, Lester Randolph Patterson; two sisters, Viola Jewel Patterson and Mildred Lucille Patterson.
He was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Holt Patterson; daughter, Regina Patterson; daughter, Rachel Patterson Brown (Jeff); grandchildren, Brandon Butler (Karly), Makayla Butler (Chris), Lauren Floyd (Titus), Paige Brown and Jordan Brown; great grandchildren, DJ, Broughton, Luna, Kaeson and Wesley (due December); brother, Charlie Lee Patterson (Lib) and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to FirstHealth Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
