Shirley Lyles Pardue, 89 of Sanford passed away Friday March 6, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday (3/13/2026) at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
Mrs. Pardue was born in Hoffman, daughter of the late Nancy Lyles and Joseph Bradley. She was she preceded in death by her husband Grady B Pardue SR, her black poodle, Brutus and her pet squirrel, Jack Sparrow.
Shirley graduated Magna Cum Laude from Campbell University and went on to earn her Masters there as well. She was a secretary at Bragg Street Elementary, then taught history at Jonesboro Middle and East Lee Jr High after getting her degree. She was a member of the Eight of Hearts Canasta Club, original member of the Sanford Brush & Pallet Club and was a weaver at the Common Thread. She loved to craft, read, be a beach bum, Johnny Depp and watched Jeopardy every night.
Mrs. Pardue is survived by her daughter, Debbie Pardue; sons, Grady B Pardue Jr (Cynthia), and Michael Pardue (Lynn); grandchildren, Matthew Pardue (Courtney), Andrew Pardue (Emilia), Ethan Pardue, Brett Elizabeth Hammonds (Cody) and Marianna Medina; great grandchildren, Kooper Pardue and Wyatt Grace Pardue; special niece, Betty Jo Winfree and her beloved cat, Hemingway.
The family will greet friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home.
