Clay was born on March 29, 1963 to Albert and Margaret (Miller) Strenke in Cumberland, WI. He was the youngest of 9 and grew up on the family dairy farm off of County Rd T.
After high school Clay moved to St. Paul where he worked in meat processing and later as a union pipe layer. He met Lynn Ruoho through his sister in law Robin and they would enjoy many years together. Clay and Lynn had one son, Nicholas. Later Clay would have another son, Clayton with Shelly Campeau. For the last 17 years Clay has been living near the family farm site with his son Clayton and Clayton's family in Turtle Lake.
Clay was an avid and enthusiastic sportsman from the time he could hold a fishing rod & rifle until the day of his death, June 20th of cardiac arrest. He had many challenges in life with addiction and his health, but faced every obstacle with courage and a positive attitude. He was a friend to many and always made time for his family or a friend in need. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed for his jovial spirit and deep belly laugh.
Clay is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Vern, Ray, Val, Dale, and Darlene- and life partner, Lynn Ruoho.
He is survived by his son, Nick and his husband, Brady Voigt of Taopi, MN and his son, Clayton and girlfriend, Sammy Cooper of Turtle lake and their two daughters, Amara and Avery; brothers, Joe and Don Strenke and sister and brother in law Theresa and Monte Krueger, special nephew, Zach Ruoho; many nieces, nephews, in-laws and special friends.
