Clayton (Clay) Fred Saucier was 82, when he passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, with family by his side, in Waterville, Maine.
Clayton was Born on September 4, 1943, in Madawaska, Maine.
Clayton lived a vibrant and spirited life that touched countless hearts along the way.
From a young age, Clayton demonstrated a strong work ethic and an unwavering dedication to everything he pursued. He began his working life at Columbia Market and later at Marcotte Chevrolet, where he developed a deep passion for automobiles that remained with him throughout his life. Clayton eventually joined Bath Iron Works (BIW), where he worked for 14 years. Known for his relentless drive and commitment to excellence, he quickly became a standout figure at the shipyard. His determination even led to a legendary moment when he fell off a ship into the river-a story that earned him the unforgettable nickname "Frog" or "French Frog." His larger-than-life personality made him well-known and well-loved among his colleagues.
Clayton's love for cars extended far beyond his professional life. He had an enduring passion for antique vehicles and muscle cars and spent countless hours restoring and painting them with meticulous care. He was a regular at car shows and took great pride in his collection. The auto body field was not just a career-it was a calling that brought him immense joy for many years.
Outside of work, Clayton was the very definition of a people person. His infectious smile and upbeat personality made him the life of every gathering. Whether it was a family party, graduation, or sporting event, Clayton was always present-cheering on his loved ones with pride and enthusiasm.
He adored music and dancing and had an undeniable flair for fun. NASCAR races were another favorite pastime, as was playing in pool tournaments. In his younger years, he even dabbled in professional wrestling-a testament to his adventurous spirit.
Clayton took great pride in his appearance. Always clean-cut and well-groomed, he was known for smelling of fresh cologne and carrying himself with confidence. His charm and warmth made him instantly approachable; he could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them smiling.
Clayton is survived by his son Brian Saucier (59) and daughter Doreen Saucier (56); grandchildren Matthew Saucier (34), Joshua Lagueux (36), Kaitlin Lagueux (31), and Desiree Saucier (25); as well as great-grandchildren Pryce, Brooklynn, Alixx, and Riley. He also leaves behind his beloved girlfriend of many years, Debbie Camire.
Clayton was predeceased by his parents Jane and Jeffrey Saucier; his brother Clifford Saucier; and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A man of immense generosity and heart, Clayton would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. His presence lit up every room he entered, leaving behind memories filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. He truly had a heart of gold.
Clayton Fred Saucier will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. May his memory bring comfort to all who carry him in their hearts.
