Clayton F. Skinner of Richfield Springs passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, in his home with his supportive and loving family by his side.
Clayton was born on March 14, 1934, in Ilion, New York, to the late Clayton and Grace (Smith) Skinner of Richfield Springs. Clayton was a lifelong resident of the Town of Columbia and graduated from Richfield Springs High School. Clayton had a full life. He ran the family farm also known as The Cedar Crest Farm for nearly 50 years. In later years, the farm earned the award of Dairy of Distinction. After retiring in 2002, he continued the passion of farming by watching the neighbors work their land. He was a bus driver for the Richfield Springs Central School for 39 years. He held many other various jobs to provide the best life for his family. Now, Clayton can continue farm life and telling stories as he watches down on all his family and friends.
In Clayton's retirement years, he enjoyed going to his camp at Raquette Lake and taking long rides with Joan to find a spot to enjoy a cup of coffee.
Surviving is his wife Joan, of 68 heartwarming years and his four children, Jeff Skinner (Diana), Fabius, Jody Beasock (Tim), Clinton, Brian Skinner (Frank) Sebastian, Fl., and Shawn Maxson (Mark), Richfield Springs. Along with nine grandchildren. Katherine Cauffiel (Paul), Grace Angiolillo (Alberto), Thomas Clayton Skinner (Amanda), Elizabeth Skinner, Brent Beasock (Genevieve), Courtney Peck (Charles), Jessica Gurdo (Anthony), Kyle Maxson (Jamie) and Ben Maxson.
Clayton's world lit up when any of his eight great grandchildren entered the room – Eleanor and Anastasia Beasock; Jack and Clayton Peck, Anthony, Sabatino, and Lydia Gurdo; Tate Maxson.
The family would like to give its sincere appreciation to Jessica Gurdo for her special care of Grandpa during his final days.
