Cleetus B Witter

Cleetus B. Witter Jr., aged 77, of Berlin Heights, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home following a prolonged illness.
Born on November 2, 1946, in Elyria, Ohio, Cleetus spent his entire life on the family farm as a resident of Florence Township. He dedicated 32 years of service as the head of the sign department for the Ohio Turnpike Commission, retiring in 1996.
A devout member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vermilion, Cleetus was a proud graduate of Firelands High School, where he excelled in football. He was also a long time member of the The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Amherst. Beyond his professional pursuits, he found joy in golfing, hunting, fishing, tending to his garden, and enthusiastically following sports, particularly football.
Survived by his loving wife, Alberta (nee Jackson) Witter, with whom he shared many cherished years, Cleetus leaves behind a legacy carried on by his daughter Kathy (Troy) Herchler of Berlin Heights, son Chris (Lynn) Witter of Wellington, and grandchildren Emily (Justin) Galloway and Madison Witter. He is also survived by his brother, Roger (Barbara) Witter of Berlin Heights, and sister, Darlene (Jeff) Krieger of Wakeman.
Preceded in death by his parents, Cleetus B Sr. and Lois A (nee Henson) Witter, Cleetus will be remembered fondly by his family, friends, and community.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 11 am until the time of a memorial service at 12 pm at St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, 15617 Mason Road, Vermilion, OH 44089. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 10, 2024 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the Wakeman Elevator Craft Beer & Wine Barn, 16 Hyde St, Wakeman, OH 44889.
