Clementine A. Blankenship
1949-2025
It is with deep sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of Clementine Alexandra Blankenship on Jan. 2, 2025, at TRU Community Care of Longmont, Colorado following complication from lung cancer.
Clem was born on Feb 11, 1949, to Eugene and Olga Wazny in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 14 with her parents and two brothers. She graduated from Denver North High School in Denver, Colorado in1967. While on a blind date in 1968, she met an Air Force servicemember stationed at Lowry Air Force base in Denver names Bill. She married Bill on May 24, 1969, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lakewood, Colorado and remained by his side until her passing. Their life together took them to Front Royal, Virginia, and Hagerstown, Maryland, while Bill was in the service. They returned to the Denver area at the completion of Bill's tour, and resided in Denver and Westminster before moving to Broomfield in 1996, where she continued to live at home until her passing.
Clem worked as an insurance auditor for Insurance Service Office (Denver) before taking time to stay home and care for her two children. Justin and Robyn, who are grateful to have had that time with her when growing up. As they reached their teenage years, Clem returned to work in customer services for Mervyn's (Northglenn), in procedures for Wackenhut Services (Rocky Flats), and in benefits administration for Corporate Allocation Services (Rocky Flats), Clem retired in 2005 and after Bill retired the following year, they had the opportunity to travel the U.S. and take cruises through Europe and the Caribbean over the course of many years.
Clem is remembered by her family as a caregiver at heart. In addition to raising her own two children, she provided significant care and unconditional love for all three of her grandchildren and always set an excellent example of how to be a kind and compassionate human being. One of the primary ways she continued to care for others as they aged was in cooking meals and hosting gatherings for friends and family. Her holiday meals and treats will be greatly missed by many. When she was not doting on others, she could be found on the golf course weekly with friends Barb and Ed.
Clem is survived by her loving husband Bill, son Justin (Shannon) of
Broomfield, Colorado; and daughter Robyn (Mike) Swing of Thornton, Colorado. Also left to mourn are her brothers Andy (Linda) of Denver, Colorado, and Murray (Karen) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and three grandchildren: Caden and Alaina Blankenship of
Broomfield, Colorado, and Madelyn Swing of Thornton, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Olga.
Although her time was cut short by cancer and she was taken from us too soon, the family has tremendous gratitude for Dr. Ross Camidge and the entire care team at the University of Colorado and UCHealth Anschutz Cancer Pavillion. There is no question that recent medical advancements provided Clem with several quality years with her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Feb. 8, 2025, at Rundus Funeral Home in
Broomfield, Colorado.
