Cleona Aspilaire, affectionately known as "Ma tante Nouphie" and "Fafou" by her loved ones, 98, of Bridgeport, CT, returned to her heavenly home on October 20, 2025.
Born on December 29, 1926, to Dominique Aspilaire and Eria Prosper in Haiti, she lived her entire life surrounded by an extended network of family and friends, whom she held dear.
After attending school and spending a significant part of her life in her homeland of Haiti, she immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s, where she was received by her beloved cousin, Emilie Belfort, whom she lovingly referred to as "Bouloune." Years later, she was joined by her niece, Celimene Aspilaire, and her son, Thomas Milord, with whom she resided for decades until her final days.
Known for her love of a good time, Cleona was always the first one on the dance floor to start the party off with a bang. She will be missed for her lively love for fun and family, the witty things she said, and the soulful melodies that she was known for breaking out into.
Cleona was predeceased in death by her parents, Dominique Aspilaire and Eria Prosper; her brothers, Voltaire, Anaclet, and Thomas Aspilaire.
She is survived by her daughter, Eria Saint Jean Aspilaire; a multitude of nieces and nephews including Micheline, Celimene, Yves-Thomas, Hennessy, Marie-Claire, Manord, Robert, Gilda, Junior, Marie-Beatrice, and more; and a host of beloved in-laws, cousins, friends, neighbors, etc.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Avenue, West Haven, CT on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 10 o'clock until 12 noon. Her funeral service will begin at 12 noon in the funeral parlor, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T Grasso Blvd, New Haven, CT.
