Cleother Willis Sr. also known as "Poncho," was born January 11, 1947 in Oakland, California to parents Leother Willis and Arthula Howard Willis. He was second youngest out of six children. He was raised in Oakland where he, his parents and siblings attended Good Samaritan Church of God in Christ under Bishop Isaac Finley. Cleother graduated from Castlemont High School located in Oakland in 1965, and proceeded to begin a career at the United States Postal Service where he retired of 40 years. He then worked for the school district in San Ramon, then for All City Management as a crossing guard where he was recognized for his dedication, caring nature and kindness. Cleother loved to work out at the gym, bowling, watching sports on television (football, basketball and PBA bowling) as well as spending time with his beloved dog Fluffy. Cleother made an effort to spread love to whoever he came in contact with. The love he showed to others was reciprocated to him by family, neighbors, co workers and friends.
On July 9, 2003 he married Marsha Luckett in Oakland, California in the company of close family and friends. Cleother Willis along with his wife Marsha attended Hayward Church of Christ where he was baptized in 2004.
Cleother departed this life on May 11, 2025 and will be greatly missed. He was proceeded in death by parents Leother and Arthula Willis, and siblings Edward Willis, Leslie Willis, and Willie Willis.
Remembering him with love is wife of 22 years Marsha Willis, Son Cleother (CJ) Willis, Stepdaughter De'Zha Washington (Stefan Washington), grandson Stefan Washington III "Trey", Sister Thelma Crawford, Brother Howard Willis (Linda Willis), Sister-in-law Joyce Willis, his beloved dog Fluffy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
