Clifford W. Blackwell, Jr. was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 28, 1943, the oldest of four children born to the union of Clifford W. Blackwell, Sr. and Catherine Calamease Blackwell.
During Clifford’s early years he lived on the southside of Fort Worth and attended James E. Guinn Elementary School. After the family’s move to the Stop Six area of Fort Worth, he attended Dunbar Junior-Senior High School, graduating in May 1961.
To further his education, Clifford enrolled at Prairie View A. and M. College where he met Grace Manning in March 1963, and the two became inseparable. While at Prairie View, Clifford was instrumental in the existence and maintenance of the campus student-led Church of Christ services. After graduating from Prairie View in May 1966, Clifford and Grace were married in August 1966 and began their life together in Fort Worth.
Their union was blessed with three children, and to support his family of five, Clifford worked at various jobs, including General Dynamics, Bell Helicopter, FWISD, and America’s Double Seal Ring Company, from which he retired after 32 years of service.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Catherine; his brother, Lewis Blackwell, Sr.; and his sister, Lillian Blackwell.
Survivors include his wife, Grace; his children, Derek W. Blackwell (Cassie), Rhonda R. Blackwell-Grey and Clifford W. Blackwell, III; his sister, Wanda Alexander (George); his grandchildren, Ma'at Imara Kai Blackwell, Carter Immanuel Blackwell, Larkin Skye Blackwell, Harlow Joy Blackwell, Piper Grace Blackwell; his bonus grandson, Richard Reginal Blackwell; his nieces and nephews, Kimberley and Colandra Blackwell, Patrice and Alicia Alexander, Lewis Blackwell, Jr. and Lawrence Smith, III; and his large extended family of nieces and nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends and visitors from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, May 3, 2024 at East Pointe Church of Christ located at 3029 Handley Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76112.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2024 also at East Pointe Church of Christ in Fort Worth.
