Clifford A. Dunn, 85 of Monmouth, IL formerly of Oquawka, IL passed peacefully surrounded by his family at 4:25 am, Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Courtyard Estates in Monmouth.
He was born September 2, 1938, in Burlington, IA the son of William Ray & Mildred (Delabar) Dunn. Clifford graduated from G&O High School in 1957. He later graduated from the David Rankin Jr. School of Mechanical Trades with the class of 1960.
Clifford married Mary Mangels on June 11, 1960, in Biggsville, IL. She preceded him in death February 5, 2020, after nearly 60 years of marriage.
Clifford worked at various car dealerships as a mechanic, Iowa Ammunition Plant, and as a supervisor at J. I. Case company in Burlington, IA.
He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years and enjoyed going canoeing and fishing at the Charles Sommers Canoe Base in Canada with his scouts. He loved farming with his brother Steve. Clifford and Mary moved to Florida and lived a good life in the sun. He returned to Illinois after Mary’s passing in 2020. He loved country and gospel music and attended Faith Bible Church in Oquawka
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Roy) Vestal of Monmouth, IL and son, Clifford R. Dunn of Kearney, MO. 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 brothers: Stephen (Jean) Dunn and Rex (Donna) Dunn both of Oquawka; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter-in-law, Janel Dunn and a brother Victor Vice.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Barker officiating. Cremation has been accorded. A private family interment will take place at Oquawka Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Faith Bible Church, Oquawka and sent to the funeral home.
