It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clifford Raymond Fejfar, who left us on December 27th, 2024. He was a cherished Husband, Brother, Dad, Son, Uncle and Grandpa, whose loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
Cliff was born in Yankton South Dakota on May 1, 1949. The Fejfar family moved to Sioux City Iowa and planted their roots. He attended Bishop Heelan Catholic High School, and his sense of duty led him to enlist in the US NAVY in his Junior year where he attended boot camp that summer. Cliff graduated in 1967, and shortly thereafter, he was assigned to Mobile Riverine Force (MRF) in the rivers of South Viet Nam, Brown Water Navy. Cliff served his country in the Mekong Delta with honor and distinction from 1968 – 1969 during the Vietnam War; in 1969, he was awarded the Purple Heart Metal for wounds received in battle. The experiences he endured and the bonds he formed during this time shaped his character and left an indelible mark on his soul.
Still being a very young man upon returning from the war, Cliff bought his 1970 Chevelle; those who knew Cliff can recall his love for muscle cars and drag racing. Looking to kick start his life, Cliff married his now former wife, Donna McCool and was blessed with his son, Mark Christopher Fejfar. Looking for a secure career, and soon thereafter, Cliff was hired and ended up serving 39 dedicated years with the US Postal Service.
In 1978, Cliff re-married the love of his life, Amalie Diane Otis (Amy) and became a stepfather to Christine Diane Poulignot; he was a loving and devoted husband and shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, providing a strong foundation for their family.
To his parents, the first child of five, Louise Agnes Fejfar (Luken) and Raymond Joseph Fejfar, Cliff was a source of immense pride and joy. He honored them with his exemplary life, embodying the values they instilled in him. Their Czech and Religious traditions helped mold Cliff from an early age.
As a big brother, Cliff was a pillar of support and a source of unending love. His siblings, Carol Williams (Doug), Charles Fejfar (Ruth), Cathy Bonowski (Kelly), Craig Fejfar (Teri) will always remember his kindness, unique sense of humor, and his unwavering loyalty.
In his role as a grandpa, Cliff found immense joy in his 4 grandchildren! Thomas Brody Bauer (Angelina), Madeleine Elizabeth Mirielle Fejfar, Dalton Robert Poulignot and Preslyn Diane Poulignot. He delighted in spending time with them and even dedicated extensive time shooting photos of their many sporting events, sharing stories of his past, and imparting his wisdom and love. His legacy lives on in their hearts, as they carry forward the lessons he taught them.
As Uncle Cliff, he is blessed with 4 nieces, 6 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Cliff was a man of integrity, known for his unwavering commitment to his family, his friends, and his community. Cliff should be remembered for his passionate dedication and time spent supporting and advocating in and for many veteran organizations, including, Vietnam Vets of America Lodge 1071, Elks Lodge 1777 and Rocky Mountain Honor Flight. You would be more likely to find Cliff at one of these than home. In addition, Cliff was an impactful speaker to many high schools as part of the VVA Speakers Bureau and instrumental in volunteering of building the Healing Wall Monument. At one point or another you may have purchased a Poppy from Cliff or assisted him by laying wreaths at National Cemeteries or heard of him attending veteran court. A recent and notable endeavor Cliff initiated was to grant money to help veterans get settled in their homes by taking them shopping, some of these stories may have warmed your heart. Cliff was also a true lover of music, especially Big Band & Motown; a favorite memory as of late was spying on him in his garage working away on his Chevelle and singing out loud to It's a Wonderful World. His life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of love and dedication. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived. Cliff's memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will forever be remembered as a hero, a mentor, and a beloved family member.
Cliff was preceded in death by Louise Agnes Fejfar, Raymond Joseph Fejfar, Charles Fejfar and Christopher Fejfar.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to any of the above-mentioned organizations in his memory or Denver Hospice at Lowry. www.vva1071.org
