Clifford Rhodes Obituary
Born on September 2, 1952, in Paris, Kentucky, Rocky was the son of the late Clifford C.D. Rhodes and Anne Rhodes. A lifelong learner and passionate advocate for education and the arts, Rocky earned his bachelor’s degree from Belmont Abbey College and went on to receive his master’s in Information and Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Rocky dedicated his career to enriching the lives of others through books, knowledge, and community. He retired from Union West Library. Even in retirement, his love of learning and mentorship remained strong—he was an active and beloved volunteer at the Belmont Abbey College library.
A man of many interests and deep civic pride, Rocky was a committed member of the Indian Trail Arts and Historical Society, where he worked to preserve and celebrate the culture and heritage of the community he called home.
Rocky is survived by his sons, Wesley Rhodes of Burlington, Scott Rhodes of Mocksville; daughter, Catherine Rhodes of Indian Trail; sister, Mary Phoebus of Augusta, GA; brother, Dan Rhodes of Augusta, GA.
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, September, 2, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home - Indian Trail Chapel (4431 Old Monroe Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079).
