Clifford A. Williamson

1939 - 2026

Clifford A. Williamson, 86 of Pittsfield, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. Born in Pittsfield on October 8, 1939 to James and Catherine Berkeley Williamson, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was an Army veteran.

A trained cable splicer and member of the United States Army Signal Corp, he was assigned to the White Alice Communications System project in Alaska, later utilized by the Air Force for intelligence purposes during the Cold War. Following his discharge from the Army he enjoyed a 30 year career at NYNEX (now Verizon), retiring as the manager of the Great Barrington garage.

Mr. Williamson is survived by his children, Harlan Williamson, Jacqui Balarin and husband Tony, Shelley Williamson, and six beloved grandchildren. He also leaves his longtime companion, Barbara Scanlon, and former wife and dear friend, Judy Williamson.

Cliff was predeceased by his son, James T. Williamson in 2018 as well as his six siblings, Rosemary, Lillian, Charles, James, Robert, and Sharon.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility, Berkshire Medical Center, 4 South, and Dr. Trevor Bayliss and the staff at the Phelps Center at BMC for the compassionate care given to him.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. An hour of visitation will precede the service from 2 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the BCC Workforce Education Fund in care of the funeral home.
