Carol Burt

A dedicated educator who lived a full life guided by her faith, Carol Burt passed on March 14 with her children at her side. Born on August 2, 1935, the daughter of John and Anna (Gladu) Burke, Carol spent her life believing that each day brought a purpose to fulfill.

For 46 years, wife of Allen Burt (predeceased 2003), the founder of Northeast Carpet Company. She is survived by her three children. Edward Burt (and Pamela of Hopedale, Ma), David Burt (and Janine of Pittsfield) and Nancy Burt (and Ed Fahey of Hinsdale).

She was so very proud of her "Grandma's Garden", six Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren. Molly Loh (and Eric of Avon, CT), Lindsey Garramone (and Joseph of Watertown, Ma), Caiden and Connor Burt (of Dalton and Westfield), Christopher Morin (Hinsdale) and Nathan Morin (and Allison of Beverly, MA). Emma and Henry (Loh), Gia and Owen (Garramone).

Lifelong best friends and sisters Marijane (and Paul) Brindle and Marilyn Barnes (predeceased 2025).

An extended family of several cousins, nieces, nephews, and was predeceased by dear friends, sister-in-law Carolyn Potochnik, brothers-in-law Wilson Barnes, Jairus Burt Jr and fellow volunteer William Marlowe.

Demonstrating her passion in education, she graduated Valedictorian of her St. Joseph's High School 1953 class and as Editor-in-chief of the Campus Echo. At age 63, she graduated Magna Cum Laude at Elms College.

Her work experience blended her religious and educational commitments. She held multiple positions within the City of Pittsfield Schools as secretary and within the Research Department. She served as the Director of Religious Education at St Francis Parish and the Director of Adult Education at Sacred Heart Parish. A role she was most proud of was with the city of Pittsfield as the Executive Secretary to Mayor Paul Brindle.

Pursuing her daily purpose she volunteered on the Religious Education Executive Board of Springfield Diocese, at BMS Pastoral Care and Berkshire County Hospice Care

Carol's mind was sharp till the end, as was her mission to provide blessings to all, it was her body that required the peaceful rest.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Dalton. There will an hour of visitation prior to the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 E. Main St, Dalton.
