Clingy Lewis Lassiter

AULANDER, NC - Clingy Lewis Lassiter, Jr., age 82, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. Born on June 11, 1943, in Bertie County, North Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late Clingy Lewis Lassiter, Sr. and Mary Congleton Lassiter.

Clingy dedicated his professional life to hard work and craftsmanship, starting as a skilled meat cutter for many years at Bakers supermarket, followed by being a devoted foreman with Easco Aluminum and later returning back parttime as a loved meat cutter with various retail grocery stores. His commitment to his work was matched by a passion for building and creating, which manifested in his love for crafting aluminum dog boxes and gunsmithing. Clingy was an avid hunter and took great pleasure in outdoor sporting activities.

For over 52 years, Clingy was a proud Mason, serving as Grand Master on several occasions for the Ahoskie Lodge and Windsor Lodge. His community involvement extended to being a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and a past member of the Aulander Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a long-standing member of the Aulander Ruritan Club until it dissolved. In this time of sorrow, we remember Clingy for his unwavering dedication to family, friends, and community, and for the legacy of love and craftsmanship he leaves behind.

Clingy was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Emma Lassiter Dickerson and Teresa Lassiter Brinkley, and his brother, Frankie Lassiter. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dorthea Amanda "Mandy" Lassiter; his children, Renee Hoggard of Greenville, NC, and Michael Lassiter of Raleigh, NC. He leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Tyler and Braxton Lassiter of Raleigh, NC, and Cole and Chelsea Hoggard of Greenville, NC. He is also survived by his nephew, Marty Stephenson of Aulander, NC, and special great-nieces, Melanie White and Lindsey Brown, along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, NC, and at other times at the Lassiter family home. A celebration of Clingy's life will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Greg Hurdle. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery in Aulander, NC, where Masonic Rites will be observed.
