Click here to watch livestream Clinton Bryson, or Clint as he was known, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 at his home in
Belle Fourche, South Dakota, on August 3, 2025. Clint was ready to join Liz and his Savior, after having lived a life full of adventures and excitement. He was born December 20, 1927, into a large family, as the sixth child out of eight born to Percy and Lula Bryson. He grew up alongside his siblings in a house devoid of electricity, indoor plumbing, and modern conveniences, but full of prayers, scriptures, and love. Clint attended a small school in Ollie, Montana, where he participated in one of the first basketball teams in the state. After graduating valedictorian of his class (never mind there were only three students), Clint set out on an adventure with Fay Beach with a little money and even less of a plan. They worked their way through several places, including Yellowstone, Idaho, Utah, and eventually Korea as U.S. Army privates. At last, Clint decided it was time to settle down. When he could not stand to be away from the beautiful girl he met on a blind date, he married Liz (Hasty) Bryson on September 13, 1950, on an off weekday before he headed back to work at the railroad in Glendive the following day- a move that shocked even his sisters. They faced many hardships together, but Clint and Liz built a beautiful life together with their children Barb and Jim. His dedication as a father helped shape him into the most dedicated and supportive grandpa. There simply was no limit to the love he showed his family. Clint worked for MDU for 35 years as a plant foreman, which meant a life spent in the country hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, branding, horseback riding, rattlesnake stomping, motorcycling, and all the other things that fed his soul and his legendary existence. Clint was social, involved, and generous as a member of countless organizations including the Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge, Shriners, the Boy Scouts for whom he served as a leader, credit union board, Methodist Church board, and the National Horseshoe Pitchers' Association. Clint's hobbies were as boundless as his energy and cannot be limited to the following list: horseshoe pitching, carpentry, cards (especially cribbage), welding, car mechanics, ranch hand, breaking horses, rodeo spectating, wood-carving, electrical work, plumbing, and honestly, if he didn't do it, he could have figured it out. There was no challenge he could not conquer He was many things to many people, but his most treasured roles were husband, father, grandpa, and great grandfather, or Papa as he was known to his favorites. Few people have lived life as fully and as well as Clint, those he leaves behind are forever better for having known him: Daughter: Barb Bonnichsen (Pete), Son: Jim Bryson, Grandchildren: Billye Mae Tracy (John), Becky Jaspers (Grant), Great-Grandchildren: Jace and Jet Tracy (Faith), Addison, Jackson, Liz, and Willow Jaspers. The list of people he is reunited with in heaven includes his parents Percy and Lula, his wife Liz, His siblings: Myrt, Ethel, Calvin, Leona, Martin, Joyce, Herb, his infant grandson Claude Allen. Visitation was held Thursday, August 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Kline Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were held Friday, August 8th at 11:00 am at the Belle Fourche Global Methodist Church. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche with Masonic Rites by the Cedar Lodge #124 of Belle Fourche and Military Honors by the Spearfish Veterans Honor Guard and the Army Honor Guard.
