Clinton Dodds Obituary

Clinton Dodds, Jr., 84, of Burlington, died at 11:37 PM, Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born September 23, 1921, in Palmyra, MO, he was the son of Clinton P. and Anna C. Happel Dodds. On November 18, 1944, he married Betty June Lipscomb in England, AR. Mr. Dodds was a product and packaging engineer at Sheaffer Pen Corp in Fort Madison for 25 years and then at Mobile Chemical in Rochester, NY for 15 years. He attended the University of Missouri for two years on a football scholarship. He was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed building models of ships and planes. He was involved in scouts being instrumental in the building of the Hawkeye Trail. Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Patt Dodds of Martha's Vineyard, MA, Royce Ann Norton of Madison, WI; one son, Chris (Daisianna) Dodds of Burlington; five grandchildren, Cory Norton, Benjamin Norton, Gretchen Dodds, David Dodds, and George Dodds; one great granddaughter, Jada Carlson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Patricia Schneider. As per the request of Mr. Dodds his body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. The Memorial Service for Mr. Dodds will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 11, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jerry Rigdon officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Asbury United Methodist Church.
