Mr. Clinton Waldron Lawhorne, Jr. age 76, of Newark, Delaware passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Born in Oak Hill, West Virginia and raised in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of Clinton W. Lawhorne, Sr. and Martha Nunn. He was one of seven Lawhorne children.
Clinton was a veteran of the United States Army, during the Viet Nam war era where he served as a Corporal with the 720 Field Artillery Group. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Prior to retirement, "C.W.", had been employed by Harvey Mack as a diesel mechanic and previously for many years, drove short haul trucks including Material Supply Dump trucks.
He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Philadelphia Eagles Football and Philadelphia "Phillies" Baseball teams. C.W. enjoyed fishing, trips to the beach, attending Nascar races with his sons each year. He enjoyed a nice "SoCo" drink while listening to his favorite musical artists such as the Beach Boys, Elvis and hits from various Motown artists. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his late parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharyn Elliott Lawhorne, his brother, David Lawhorn, and his sister, Linda Burridge. Clinton is survived by his three sons, William Elliott Lawhorne, husband of Marla, Clinton W. Lawhorne, III and Michael Lawhorne; his nine grandchildren, his siblings, Thomas, husband of Irene, James "Jimmy", husband of Colleen, Angel Cartwright and Mary, wife of Stan, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Williams Funeral Home and Burial Services.
Services are private and will be held at the convivence of the family.
