Clinton Petrey, age 92, of Woodbine, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky. He was a man whose tenacity, spirit, and profound love for his family and community will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Clinton was born on May 8th, 1932, in Whitley County, Kentucky, a son to the late Uriah Petrey and Donna Mitchell Petrey. In addition to his parents, Clinton was preceded in death by his wife, Corine Petrey; second wife Nancy Petrey; son, Wayne Petrey; granddaughter, Ashley Petrey; great grandson, Brody Weddle; son-in-law, Benny Hinkle; and by his siblings, Geneva Goodin, Gladys Stinson, Nelly Petrey, Clifford Petrey, and Mossie Bishop.
Clinton's life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, perseverance, and faith. His career in masonry, which culminated in the establishment of Petrey Masonry, was not just a profession but a reflection of his character – solid, unwavering, and built to last. His tireless work ethic extended beyond the brick and mortar of his trade; he found joy in tending to his garden, nurturing life from the earth with the same passion and commitment. As a devout member of the Corn Creek Baptist Church, he lived out the verse from Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." Clinton was a US Army veteran having served in Korea.
Clinton's legacy is lovingly remembered by his son, Lanny Petrey (Debra); daughter, Kathy Hinkle; grandchildren, Dustin Petrey, Levi Petrey (Casey), Greg Petrey (Kelsey), Chrissi Cuel (Daniel), Bryan Hinkle (Jessica), Tessa Petrey (Phillip Patton), and Kalley Petrey; great grandchildren, Ellie Petrey, Emmy Petrey, Bo Petrey, Maggie Petrey, Kraig and Kylie Cuel, Lexi Petrey, Kyrie Walters, and Chelbie Petrey; great great grandchild, Jayden; and by several nieces, nephews, family and friends, including his loving and caring girlfriend Sharon Havens.
