Clyde Best

Clyde R. Best, Sr, 78, of Lynchburg, VA passed away on  May 18, 2024. He was the son of the late John and Mazie Best, and the husband of Irma L. Best for 57 years. 

 Clyde was born on March 2, 1946, in Woodbrook, Trinidad, West Indies. Clyde completed his high school in Trinidad and went on to further his education in the United States. He received his associate's degree in Machine Tool and Die at Midlands Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina. After college, he accepted a job with Westinghouse. He retired from Westinghouse in 2018. 

 Clyde remained a member of Metropolitan AME Church in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He enjoyed traveling back home to Trinidad to spend time with family. Playing card games with his brothers was one of his favorites. He also enjoyed going to the beach with his wife and children. However, his main hobbies include reading the newspaper, Sudoku, Fill-it-in, and puzzles.

 Clyde is survived by his wife Irma L. Best, his children: Debra, Clyde Jr., Claude (Karlina), Edwin and Elijah Best. His siblings: sisters; Donna and Mona, brothers; Steve, Robert, and Reginad Best of Port of Spain, Trinidad. Seventeen grandchildren,  eight great-grands, and a host of nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Clyde is predeceased by his son Emmanuel Best and his sister Muriel Best.

 A visitation will be held on Monday, May 27,  2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday,  May 28, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Breezewood Dr, Lynchburg,  VA, with Minister Moss officiating.
