Clyde Herman Bostic

Mr. Clyde Herman Bostic, age 84, of Davenport, Virginia, passed away Friday (December 29, 2023) at his home. Born September 28, 1939 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Edd and Mary Bostic. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended Rosedale Baptist Church and had formerly served as Deacon at Corinth Baptist Church. He was a retired coal miner, having been employed at Clinchfield Coal Company, and a member of the UMWA. In his early years, he had a passion for car racing and had raced for several years. A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, he enjoyed farming, but his greatest joys came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twelve siblings, Claude, Henry, Dewey, Ervin, Ellis, Curtis, Eugene, Ida Belle, Grace, Thelma, Velva, and Beulah.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-two years, Loretta Bostic; two children, David Bostic and wife, Deane of Rosedale and Debbie Arrington and husband, David of Davenport; three grandchildren, Dax Bostic, Haley Viers and husband, Travis, and Dakota Ball and husband, Logan; four great-grandchildren, Peyton and Grayson Viers, and Camryn and Carsyn Ball; three siblings, Jess Bostic, Angie Combs, and Letha Wilson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Wanda Sullivan; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday at Rosedale Baptist Church in Rosedale, Virginia with Rev. Jeff Kinder, Rev. Gary Sullivan, and Rev. Dax Bostic officiating. Memorial honors will be conducted by UMWA Sub 28 Chaplain Corp. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Randall Duty, Logan Ball, Travis Viers, Larry Viers, Randall Wilson, Jeff Mathis, Mike Mathis, and Kenny Horton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Call, Donald Hess, Sidney Rasnake, Clyde Hill, Ezra Harris, Raymond Bostic, Rick Breeding, Rick Bostic, Roger Rasnake, Jerald Hale, Raymond Deel, Charlie Bostic, Lester Ball, Greg Rasnake, Leemore Stevens, Junior Arrington, and Vernal Boyd.
The family will receive friends Sunday at 6:00 PM at Rosedale Baptist Church.
