Clyde Grissom Day, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Born in Knox City, Texas, Clyde was the beloved son of Charley Roy Day and Essie Mae Day.

Clyde was married to the love of his life, Elizabeth Irene Day, and together they built a family grounded in faith and love. His children are Mark Day and Diana Day Burks. His cherished grandchildren are Alexander Royal Day, Madeline Nicole Day, Joshua Mark Day, Austin Rucker Burks, Brayden Kevin Burks, and Caitlyn Elizabeth Burks.

He was one of seven siblings. His brothers are Hardy Day, Bobby Day, Kenneth Day, and JR Day, and his sisters are Dessie Day Egenbacher and Romain Day Stubbs.

Clyde grew up on a ranch in Knox City, Texas, developing a lifelong love for farming, ranching, and horses. He studied at Abilene Christian University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. He spent many years working at the Lubbock Cotton Exchange and later served as a Texas Real Estate Broker for more than 50 years.

Throughout his life, Clyde lived in Lubbock, Texas for many years, spent 18 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and resided in Keller, Texas for the final 12 years of his life.

Above all, Clyde was a man devoted to Jesus Christ. He was an ordained, licensed minister through Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, and was deeply involved in ministry throughout his life. He served as a leader at Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas, participated actively in the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, and founded the nonprofit organization Shoe Angels, through which he provided shoes, food, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Navajo Nation in Grants, New Mexico.

Clyde was known for his powerful teaching, faithful leadership of Bible studies, and unwavering commitment to planting the Word of God in the hearts of others. He invested selflessly in young people—sending students to Christ for the Nations, sponsoring children to attend church camps, ski trips, and retreats, and personally driving his children and grandchildren to Dry Gulch Camp in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and to Bibleman events—always believing that sowing God’s Word into young lives was the most valuable investment anyone could make.

He loved Southern Gospel music and treasured time spent in Ruidoso, New Mexico, one of his favorite places. Clyde never met a stranger—only friends he had not yet made. He was known for his generosity, encouragement, and kindness, consistently believing in people even more than they believed in themselves.

Clyde carried the joy of the Lord wherever he went. When he entered a room, it felt brighter, because Jesus lived BIG inside of him. His greatest purpose and passion was winning people to Jesus and sharing the Gospel of the Good News with everyone he met.

“Praise the Lord” was more than a phrase to Clyde—it was his way of life. In every circumstance, he proclaimed, “Praise the Lord!” believing wholeheartedly that Jesus is worthy of it all.

Clyde has laid up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and today he is rejoicing, singing praises to his Savior Jesus Christ, and walking the streets of gold. His legacy of love and faith will live on through his family and through the countless lives he touched.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30am, Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Church of Christ in Knox City, Texas. A visitation is planned from 10:00 to 11:00am, Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Church of Christ, 507 SE 2nd Street, Knox City, Texas under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City.
