Elder Clyde W. Johnson, Sr., age 88, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Annabelle and Carl Sterling Johnson, went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2025. He is preceded in death by both parents; one brother and two sisters, Carl Jr., Lorraine, and Delores.

He retired from Solid State Controls in 2010, where he worked for 32 years. He joined Greater Liberty Temple G.O.G.I.C. in 1985 and was a faithful member for 33 years. He met his present wife (Juanita) in church in February 2000 and was married in October. They have been married for 25 years. He was ordained an Elder by Bishop David L. Herron in 2014.

In his early years, he went to 5th Avenue High School in Pittsburgh and grew up in the Hill District in Elmore Square. At the age of 18 he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and made his home here in Columbus, where he met his first wife (Audrie). They were married for 40 years before she passed away in September 1999.

They were blessed with six children Patricia, Annette, Toyia, Clyde Jr. (Lisa), Diane, and Kevin (Tonya ); 22 grandchildren; 13 boys Jamie, Wayne, Erick, Derrick, Marques, Maurice, Arthur, Clyde III, Christopher, Cameron, Kevin Jr., Michael, and Elijah; 8 girls Neprea, Shanita, Courtney, Patrice, Summer, Sarah, Morgan, Allisa, and Savannah; and many great grandchildren; also leaving behind many nieces and nephews in Pittsburgh.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ 1466 Acheson Road, Columbus, Ohio 43203. Burial will process to Evergreen Burial Park.
