ENDVILLE – Clyde Clement Porter Jr., a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, respected builder, and faithful servant of God, passed away suddenly on June 3, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born on September 15, 1938, in New Albany, Mississippi, Clyde was the son of the late Clyde Clement Porter and Vivian Grace Wilson. He spent the majority of his life in Memphis, Tennessee, where he worked for over 50 years as a commercial building constructor with Allen and O’Hara. His craftsmanship, dependability, and quiet determination left a mark on both the city skyline and the people he worked with.

In 2003, Clyde moved to his wife’s family farm, Mount Robins, where he continued to pour his heart into home renovations, landscaping, and preserving the land he and his wife cherished. A man of endless energy and creativity, he spent much of his life renovating his home—always with his wife Margaret in mind, whose happiness inspired many of his projects.

Clyde married Margaret, the love of his life, on June 6, 1954, at Endville Baptist Church. Their nearly 66 years together were rooted in love, faith, and an unwavering bond. Clyde’s greatest joy was providing for and spending time with his family. He deeply loved his daughter and grandchildren, and he never missed an opportunity to invest in their lives—whether through support, generosity, or simply his presence.

A man of many interests, Clyde enjoyed Ole Miss sports, golf, and projects around the house. He had a passion for model trains and owned an impressive track that delighted both young and old. He was rarely without the company of his beloved dogs, Bear and Foxy, who were companions on the farm.

Clyde’s Christian faith was central to his life. At home, he was a dedicated member of Endville Baptist Church, formerly Briarcrest Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Those who knew Clyde will remember his steadfast love for his wife, his dedication to family, his generous spirit, and his devotion to the land, home, and faith he held so dear. He lived fully, gave freely, and left a legacy of integrity, strength, and love.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter Meg Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Caleb Johnson (Kiwi Caron) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Chloe Johnson Stubbs of Tupelo, Mississippi; and one great-granddaughter, Naomi “Omi” Stubbs.

Clyde is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Visitation will be at 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at Endville Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at Endville Baptist Church with Bro. Marty Merritt officiating.

Pallbearers will be Terry Steele, Jason Steele, Barker Collier, and Gary Toney.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Endville Baptist Church, Caleb Johnson, and John Elmore.
