Clyde Alvin Simmons, 90, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, after four months of declining health.
He was born in Gordon County, Georgia, on February 6, 1934, the son of the late Samuel Clifford Simmons and Estelle Baker Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Lene Simmons, in 2019; sisters, Wylene Towe and Bonnie Evans; and his fur babies, MoMo and Little Man.
Prior to retirement, he was employed by Crown America as a technical engineer. He was a member of Royal Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, going to the beach, being with his family and his church family, and loved his fur babies, Toto and Tiny.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Robin Simmons, Toby Simmons, Wayne and Leslie Chasteen; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Ricky Luffman, Judy and Albert Lofty, and Kelly Simmons; grandchildren, Albert Lofty Jr., Stephanie Arnel, Savannah Rogers, Jason Chasteen, Jennifer Brock, Becky Bryson, and Roxann Bennett; along with several great and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Revs. Charles Franklin and Melvin Burson officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving are Justin Shoats, Geoffrey Bryson, Ronnie Young, Damon Brock, Donald Padgett, and Joey Newton.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 2nd, between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
