Clyde Lee Stewart, age 75, passed away September 30, 2025 after a long-fought battle with cancer.
Clyde was born November 20, 1949 in Three Rivers, Texas to Arvie Wayne and Ruth Hawley Stewart. He graduated from Mathis High School in the spring of 1968. The day after he graduated, his oldest brother Wray took him to work in the electrical field where he then dedicated the next 57 years of his life to the industry. Thirty of these years were spent climbing the ladder with San Patricio Electric Co-op, and in his later years serving on the Board of Directors for San Patricio Electric Cooperative, San Miguel Electric Cooperative and South Texas Electric Cooperative. Clyde also served on the board for Jones River Bend Homeowners Association where he enjoyed spending time getting away from it all at his house on the Nueces River.
He spent many days fishing on the river or on the bay with close friends and enjoyed the time making memories. Clyde did not have your average "fish stories". His stories always started with sarcasm and ended with everyone in stitches as they listened to his recollection of the story. Clyde's most cherished times on the water were spent with his grandchildren competing for the biggest or most fish caught. These core memories they will carry with them always.
Clyde married his high school sweetheart, Sandy Stewart on June 24,1972 and together they built a life around family and service to their community. Clyde was a member of the Sinton Masonic Lodge #1012 and he and Sandy are longtime members of the Boy Scouts of America. They raised their sons by the Scout Law to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. Clyde was Scoutmaster of Troop 450 for 11 years. During this time, he mentored many scouts and took three groups backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He watched with pride as his two sons earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was looking forward to seeing his two oldest grandchildren do the same.
Clyde is preceded in death by his parents: Arvie Wayne and Ruth Stewart; four brothers: Arvie Wayne Stewart, Jr., Darrell Stewart, Wray Stewart and Joe Stewart.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife: Sandra Stewart; two sons and their spouses: Phillip and Kathy Stewart from Dayton, Texas, Cody and Brenda Stewart from Shiro, Texas; four adoring grand-children: Corey, Peyton, Brianna, and Madison; three brothers and their wives: John and Kimberly Stewart from Sandia, Texas; Delmer and Lennette Stewart from Sandia, Texas and Roy Stewart from Corpus Christi, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Friday, October 3, 2025. The family will receive guests from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, 11:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. There will be no graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clyde's grandchildren's Scout Troop: BSA Troop 8 - Eastgate Church, 1707 County Rd 611, Dayton, Texas 77535.
