It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Codey Michael St. John, a hometown hero, who bravely fought Neuroblastoma for almost 18 years before trading in his sword for a magnificent set of angel wings, shortly after midnight on Friday, December 22nd 2023. He was 24 years old.
Codey is preceded in death by his father, Richard St. John; and his grandfathers, Alvey Richard St. John and Carl Darrah.
He is survived by his mother, Amy St. John (Scott Wilcox); sisters, Allie Heath, Taylor St. John; brother, Logan (Paige) St. John; grandmothers, Paula (Mimi) St. John, Debbie (Nana) Darrah; several aunts and uncles; nephew, Ayden Dingus; Niece, Brielle Hess; many cousins and his beloved dog and best friend Moose (Bubba).
Codey was a remarkable young man who touched the lives of all who knew him. Despite facing numerous challenges due to his illness, he maintained an unwavering spirit and a devotion to his family. His determination and resilience inspired all those around him and served as a testament to his extraordinary strength.
A lover of the outdoors, Codey enjoyed hunting and fishing. Whether he was casting a line into a pond, hunting deer or cruising around on his RZR, he found peace and fulfillment in these activities.
In addition to his fondness of the outdoors, Codey loved driving around in his Red truck which was more than just a vehicle to him – it was a symbol of freedom, adventure, and countless cherished memories. His golden retriever, Moose, brought joy and companionship in his life. Moose was not just a pet, but a best friend who provided comfort and support throughout Codey's journey.
Codey will be remembered for his contagious laughter, his kind and compassionate nature, his unwavering love for his family, and his joking, witty sense of humor. He had a knack for lightening up the room with his quick wit and playful pranks, bringing smiles to the faces of those around him, even during the toughest of times.
Codey's absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though Codey's time with us was cut short, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have shared in his life. He leaves behind a lasting imprint of courage, love, determination and perseverance that will continue to inspire others for years to come.
Family and friends will come together to honor and remember the remarkable young man who touched so many lives, on Thursday, December 28th, from 2pm to 8pm and on Friday, December 29th, from 10am until time of service at 1pm. The celebration of Codey's life will be held at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer funeral home, 441 37th Street,
Bellaire, Ohio with Fr. Dan Heusel officiating, followed by escorting Codey to his final resting place in Holly Memorial Gardens.
