Cody Houser, 65, of Huntsville, passed away at 7:48 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Lima, Ohio on February 28, 1960, to the late Waid Olan Sr. and Madlyn D. (Clapsaddle) Houser.
Cody is survived by his son, Brooks Houser; his dog, Reacher Houser; significant other, Lora Kaczar; and her family. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Houser.
Cody spent his life outdoors whenever he could. A passionate hunter, angler, and adventurer, he found his peace on the water or deep in the woods. He was an accomplished competitive skeet shooter, earning recognition in numerous competitions throughout the years. His love of fishing - especially his time spent in Florida shark fishing - was unmatched and his stories from those trips were legendary.
For over three decades, Cody worked as a lead engineer at Honda, where he took great pride in his craftsmanship and precision. He also devoted countless hours raising and training hunting dogs, whose loyalty and spirit reflected his own connection to the outdoors. He spent the last few years in retirement with his best friend, Reacher. Doing what he loved with archery and reading books.
Cody will be remembered for his skill, his curiosity and the way he thrived in nature.
Pastor Greg Menssen will officiate a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in the Huntsville Cemetery.
