Cody Ray Rice, age 30, passed away unexpectedly in a car accident Thursday, August 21, 2025. He was born October 3, 1994, to Edgar Richard Rice and Brandy Nichole Burleson. Cody graduated from Fred T. Foard High School and furthered his education in IT School. He was a foreman and superintendent in training with Fred Smith Construction in Raleigh. Cody was always active and involved in every sport you could think of whether it be football, skateboarding, or snowboarding. His greatest passion, however, was riding dirt bikes. When you think of Cody, most people think of either dirt bikes or music. He was a musician who loved to play the guitar and was an incredible songwriter. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace being in nature, going camping, being in the water, traveling to the beach, and visiting the mountains. Cody had a witty sense of humor and could light up any room he walked into. He was a peacemaker and had a heart of gold. Cody was fearless, loved helping others, and lived life to the fullest every day.
Cody is survived by his mother, Brandy Burleson; father and step-mother, Ed and Kim Rice; sister, Jayln Rice; his beloved fur baby, Bendy; former wife, Kailee Pieno; stepsiblings, Ginger Shearin (Zachary) and Daniel Perry; nephews, Banks Wayne and Jackson Shearin; niece, Scarlett Shearin; grandparents, Randy Ray Burleson, Ramona Burleson, Regina and Edwin Rees; great grandparents, Jane Burleson and Essie Green; aunts and uncles, Patty and Brian Hipps, Phillip Rice, Shaye and Bryan Dase, Heather Burleson, Michelle Scruggs, and Crystal Blanton; cousins, Layla Jane Dase, Hunter Lance Dase, Paul Hipps, Avery, Gracie, and Aubree Burleson, Makenzie, Stephanie, and Bridgette Lawson, Brooke, Jeffery, Austin, Casey, Christopher, and Cayleigh Blanton; and various other relatives and loved ones.
