Coleen Lavern Justiss, 90, of Greenwood, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025. She was born on April 8, 1935, in El Dorado, Arkansas, and lived a full and spirited life surrounded by family, love, and laughter.

Coleen was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her spouse David M. Justiss, Jr.; parents, Mary Ellen Kennedy Lofton and Emmet Dewey Lofton; brother, Joe Bryant Lofton; daughter, Deborah Kay Chaffin; granddaughter, Priscilla Chaffin; sisters, Marie Torrance, and Christine Childers. She is survived by her daughters, Marcelle Cruz, Laura Stewart, and Becky Williams; her grandchildren, Melisa White, Chris Chaffin, Gerald Cruz, Damon Holliday, Amanda Chaffin Vest, Markus Stewart, and Madalan Williams; as well as 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward.

Coleen loved cooking for others and always found joy in bringing people together around good food and conversation. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, Pewee, watching quirky game shows, keeping up with the news, and cheering for JB Mooney in the rodeo. A talented sewer, crafter, florist, and gardener, she also had a knack for finding hidden treasures while bargain hunting and thrift shopping — always with an eye for a good deal and a great story.

Known for her fiery humor and her signature phrase, “I’m gonna kick your ass,” Coleen had a spunky spirit and a heart full of kindness. She and her husband shared a lifetime of adventure, traveling wherever his Navy career led them, creating a home filled with love no matter where they were.

Coleen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her laughter, warmth, and strength will live on in the hearts of her family forever.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, officiated by Dennis Aaron at Open Range Fellowship in Greenwood, LA.
