Coleman Ray Thomas

Barbourville, Ky. – Coleman Ray Thomas, 89, of Woollum, Kentucky, passed away August 14, 2025. Coleman was the son of Brock Thomas and Mary Vaughn Thomas, born to them March 13, 1936, in Knox County, Kentucky. Coleman was a kind man with a strong faith in God, a diligent work ethic and an immense love for his family and friends. On October 30, 1957, Coleman united in marriage to Cledia Brock and to this union one cherished son, Russell Wayne Thomas, was born. Coleman was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Clay County. He was a talented carpenter, always proud of his craft building cabinetry and homes. In his free time, Coleman enjoyed visiting with family and friends and working in his garden. Coleman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Left behind to mourn Coleman's passing is his beloved wife of 67 years, Cledia Brock Thomas; son Russell Wayne Thomas and his wife Judy; and granddaughters Jessica Bays (John) and Jennifer Smith (Robbie). Three treasured great grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Kylee Smith, and Jayden Bays, also survive Coleman. In addition to his parents, Brock and Mary Thomas, Coleman was preceded in death by brothers Virgil Frost, J.R. Thomas, Henry Thomas, and Park Thomas; sisters Lillian Thomas Hacker, Edna Thomas Jones, and Nannie Frost Blevins; grandson Kevin Wayne Thomas; and great grandchildren Kaitlyn Paige Smith and Corey Matthew Bays. The Thomas family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM. Reverend Mann Cobb will officiate, assisted by Reverend Scott Hammons. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Blevins Cemetery at Woollum, Kentucky. Family and friends will serve as Casket Bearers. The Hopper family, Victoria Hopper and Sally Hopper, and the staff of Hopper Funeral Home, Mrs. Lorena Blankenship, Mr. Robin Reese, Mrs. Brenda Johnson, and Mr. Reid Brewer, express sincere condolences to the family and friends of Coleman Ray Thomas.
