Colin John Brown, 16, of O'Fallon, IL, was born on April 1, 2008, at Oliver C. Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL, and passed away on November 27, 2024, at Children's Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Colin, a passionate hockey enthusiast, began his love for the game with the Southern Illinois Ice Hawks. His dedication to excel in the sport caught the attention of the Central State Development Hockey League, leading him to join the St. Louis Eagles and later the Affton Americans in the CSDHL. After spending time at O'Fallon High School as a student and a member of the O'Fallon Illinois Hockey Club, Colin's love for hockey and his strong academic performance prompted him to transfer to Christian Brothers College High School, where he excelled both academically and as a varsity hockey player.
Colin embodied the CBC motto, "Brothers For Life," forging strong friendships and cherishing his time with his hockey teammates, especially with his best friend and brother, Liam. Tragically, Colin's life was cut short before he could fulfill his dream of attending the University of Michigan and pursuing a career in medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon.
He loved traveling with his family and exploring new cities with his father while on their many hockey game weekend trips. Colin was a big fan of Marvel movies and had an insatiable love for Reese's Cups. So, the next time you enjoy one, raise a toast to Colin.
Colin is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Rev. John E. Hannibal; and his maternal grandfather, Elwood C. Park.
Colin is survived by his parents, Calvin and Tracey (nee Park) Brown; brother, Liam P. Brown; paternal Great-Grandmother, Arzula Hannibal; paternal Grandmother, Loretta (Howard) Gunter; maternal Grandmother, Patricia Park; Great Aunt, Mattie (Emanuel) Witherspoon; Aunts, Susan (Dave) Payton, Diane (Keith) Mizwicki, and Amanda Gunter; Uncles, Tim (Carol) Park, Craig Gunter, and many cousins.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 4:00-9:00 PM at Christian Brothers College High School, 1850 De La Salle Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, 4431 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108.
