With great sadness, we announce the sudden death of Colin Gary Hossink of Addison,
Vermont who went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 1, 2024.
He was 23 years old.
Colin was born on January 17, 2001 in Munster, Indiana to Kevin and Michele Hossink
before moving to Middletown, NY at the age of three.
In addition to his parents, Kevin and Michele, he is survived by his sister Alicia (Tyler)
Vellenga and nephews, Jayce and Tyson; brother, Tyler, all of Middletown, NY; fiancé,
Rosalie Nop of Middlebury, Vermont and her parents, Warren and Jen Nop and family;
grandparents, Gary and Trudy Stellingwerf of Middletown, NY, Ken Hossink of Holland,
Michigan and Sheryl Hossink of Zealand, Michigan; along with aunts, uncles and
cousins.
He grew up in Middletown, New York and graduated from Harmony Christian School.
His love for farming began on his Pop-Pop's farm and continued at the Nop Dairy farm
in Montgomery, NY before he moved to Addison, Vermont in December of 2020 to
work on a dairy farm.
Colin was a faithful, professing member of New Haven United Reformed Church and
diligent employee at the Gosliga Farm. He was a beloved son and grandson, devoted
brother, adored uncle, cherished fiancé and loyal friend. Colin was a hard worker with
a great sense of humor who loved the Lord and farm life. He will be sorely missed.
Colin's only comfort as well as ours is that, "we belong in body and soul, in life and in
death, to our faithful Savior Jesus Christ" (Heidelberg Catechism Lord's Day 1).
A memorial service will be held at the New Haven United Reformed Church,1660 Ethan
Allen Hwy, New Haven, VT 05472, on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing
will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Hudson Valley
United Reformed Church, 1043 County Route 12 New Hampton, NY 10958. A funeral
service will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. at Hudson Valley United Reformed
Church officiated by Rev. Andrew Knott, Pastor of New Haven URC, Vermont. Burial
will take place at the Howells cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.,
130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
"The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the Word of the Lord remains forever" 1
Peter 1:25. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial
contributions be made to the Gideons International (gideons.org), which distributes
Bibles to tell others about Jesus.
